Circus Photos

Jonathan's Circus Biking

Here's a video of Jonathan's shining bicycling moment. You can hear Eric say, "Jon!!!" Plus, Jonathan gets excited when he sees the family in the front row and almost runs us over.

Preschool Circus

On Tuesday the 24th Jonathan's preschool, King of Glory, put on a circus for parents. We had to bring our tickets to get into the show and were given snack tickets to "purchase" candy, popcorn, peanuts and water. Eric loved and the food and whenever he saw Jonathan he exclaimed, "Jon!". Very cute. The kids tight rope walked (on the floor) and did all kinds of tricks on the rope. One little girl was the lion tamer of about four lions. There was a clown who threw money at the crowd and squirted at us with a squirt bottle. Jonathan was supposed to do this with Isaac but decided not to participate. He did however show off his cycling skills and his "dancing" skills later in the show. Here's a video of the last performance of the day. Jonathan was a bit excited by the whole event. He even squirted us with his finger water gun a few times.

Happy 5th Birthday with Friends

Jonathan had his birthday party with friends at McDonalds this past Saturday. Wow! Whew! Whoopee! That about sums it up...ha ha. All of his little friends who RSVP'd showed up which was very good. His preschool buddies: Fredrick, Blake and Angelina were there. His brother was there. Jack and Lindsey were there too. And our neighbor Ellie. We played some games (sort of) and had food (not much was really eaten), gift opening, cake and ice cream. When the kids weren't running and jumping all over, they sat still long enough to see Jonathan open his gifts and then take a bite of food. After an hour of unoganized chaos we moved to the indoor play area where the kids were able to run around like the little maniacs they are. It was funny though, after about an hour-and-a-half the kids were noticeably less active and TIRED. Fredrick was a bit nervous for the first half so his mom, Jenny, and his sister, Isabel, stayed with him. As soon as we were in the play area, however, he was as crazy as the other boys. Angelina came up to my friend Kerri and I at one point and said that Jonathan told her he loved her. So she was all happy again because at pre-school last week she said Jonathan didn't like her any more. Look at how the two look at each other in the photos. Such devotion. And I caught Jonathan giving Angelina a kiss on the cheek too. Hmmmmmmm....

The party was great but very tiring. Jonathan had a very nice time and it was great fun to see him interact with his friends. We all went to bed early and slept like logs.

First Phone Call

Jonathan received his first phone call yesterday from his friend, Fredrick. "Is Jonathan there?" Jonathan got on the phone and immediately proceeded upstairs to his room where as soon as I approached his door he closed his door for privacy. Funny! The behavior must be natural. (I think next time I get a phone call, I'll try the same thing and see if that works for me.) They talked for a while and then Jonathan said he was waiting for Fredrick to come back to the phone because he had to go and get dressed. Soon thereafter the phone started beeping like it was disconnected. Jonathan hung up and we called Fredrick back. I think the two boys talked four times yesterday. And so it begins! At one point I heard Jonathan tell Fredrick he missed him. And then he asked if Fredrick missed him too. So cute. Both of them were attempting to organize a time to play together at the other's house. I'll have to chat with Fredrick's mom and get that organized. We'll see Fredrick at Jonathan's kid party on Saturday. Speaking of which, there are seven friends coming. Should be fun!

T-Ball & Birthday Updates

Jonathan had his 2nd night of t-ball and it sounds like things went much better this time around. His first night, he basically had a half-an-hour tantrum because he was afraid of everything...new kids, daddy standing too far away, strangers telling him what to do etc. Before he went tonight, I had a long talk with him about what to expect and asked him not to be "mean" to daddy. He came home all smiles and really enjoyed himself. I was very proud of him and let him know it. Jay was much happier this evening too.

Tomorrow Jonathan has his 5 year appointment at the doctor so he can get into kindergarten in the fall. I had to tell him about the appointment tonight so he wouldn't be surprised. I even told him about the four shots he'll have to get. Poor guy, but I think he will try to be brave. He told me he would be bringing his bear and new tiger to the appointment with him to help him with the shots. Please keep us in your prayers. His appointment is at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow.

Jonathan's birthday was yesterday and we celebrated at Grandma and Grandpa Matthews' house. It was a triple celebration as we celebrated Jay's birthday belatedly and Jennifer's birthday a week ahead of time also. We had fantastically yummy food and dessert. Things were hectic but fun. Jonathan got great gifts and was very happy about everything. This coming Saturday he has one more celebration. A friend party at McDonalds. Should be interesting. Two or three kids from his preschool class are coming as well as a couple of other friends. My friend, Kerri, is going to help me out with the party although I think McDonald's has most everything planned for me.

A Long Busy Weekend

Whew! It's Sunday night and I'm exhausted. The weekend was jammed packed with activity. My parents came for a visit all the way from Wisconsin on Friday night. Jonathan stayed up waiting for them to arrive. We read a book by the front window and every few seconds he'd pop up to peek outside and check if grandma and grandpa were here yet. Very cute. When they arrived he went and opened the door for them. Saturday we got up, had pancakes for breakfast and got ready for our outing to the Science Museum of Minnesota. Jonathan wanted to see the dinosaur skeletons. Our trip there was, unfortunately, an extra long one as I accidentally stayed on 694 instead of taking 35E into St. Paul. I think we could have driven to South America in the time it took to get to the museum. Then because it was St. Patrick's Day and a parade was taking place very soon, the traffic was atrocious and our parking entrance to the museum was blocked off. After much detouring and avoiding pedestrians milling about in the road in their green get-ups we finally parked and made it into the museum. We were really excited to be there and I remembered to bring my camera so was determined to get some great shots. I took a picture of the pterodactyl in the entrance and then my camera told me the batteries were dead. So much for photos! After all that stress we had a good time. Both kids loved the dinosaurs and were also engrossed by the Mississippi River displays. We got home late afternoon. The drive home was pretty routine. Thank goodness. We enjoyed a yummy spaghetti dinner and had DQ ice cream cake for dessert. The kids went to bed early and the rest of us adults enjoyed a quiet evening. Grandma and Grandpa Wolf left around noon on Sunday after playing with the boys all morning. They lavished a ton of attention on the boys and the boys just ate it up! I think it's early bed times again tonight. Me included. Grandma and Grandpa too.

A Bit of Rambling

Jonathan starts t-ball tonight. He and daddy will be going together. I hope he enjoys it. I think he really needs some activities to get all the extra energy out. Both boys have been incredibly squirrelly lately. It must be the 60 degree sunny weather or something. The great outdoors is calling. Too bad it's so muddy and wet outside. I guess we can spend time playing in the driveway.

Jonathan's 5th birthday is in less than a week. Grandma and Grandpa Wolf are headed over from Wisconsin to help us celebrate this weekend. Then on Monday, his actually birthday, Grandma and Grandpa Matthews are having a shindig at their house for him. Lastly, he is having a friend party a week from Saturday. Whew! I'm exhausted already. We will be headed to McDonalds for the party with about six of his friends. They plan it all so all I have to do is make sure no one leaves the building. I'll be sure to get some fun photos.

Eric has been "reading" his choo choo book to us and talking alot about Gordon, one of Thomas the Train's pals. Although when he says Gordon, it sounds like Gun. He's also been saying John when talking about his brother. That's a cute one. Currently, he's in the mood for not eating and everything we offer him is "blech" which is getting a bit annoying. I guess he'll eat when he's hungry though.

Not much else going on. Just waiting for spring to officially arrive and for all the snow to melt. I need to catch some rays!

A Snowman's Demise

Poor, poor frosty. He couldn't handle the 50 degree spring-like weather. First his eyes fell out, then his mouth, then his nose. He tipped more and more until he couldn't stand any longer. Frosty is now a great place to sit and enjoy the sunshine...that is until he gets shorter and shorter and shorter.

Snowman Picasso

After Frosty was all finished, Eric took a few artistic liberties with Frosty's pieces. If Picasso did snowmen, I think they would have looked like this.

Let it Melt, Let it Melt, Let it Melt

It's a beautiful pre-spring day here in Minnesota. The sun is shining, the snow is melting and it's a whopping 44 degrees. Simply beautiful. The snow is nice and packy so the kids and I went outside to play and build a snowman. We also slid down the hill in the backyard. Things got a bit slick after a few runs so thank goodness for the small trees that helped to keep us off the pond.

Snow Storm Photos

The Perfect Snow Storm

We have had a lot of snow today and the weather was warm so the boys and I decided to play outside for a while. As you can see by the photos the snow started off relatively light but then it really started to come down (see above photos). We had a ball! And then Jay came home from work five hours early because they closed the store. What fun! Maybe it will snow all night and then we can all have a snow day tomorrow.
