It's a First

In the Jeep yesterday while waiting for Jay to return to the car, Eric and I played a "nice to meet you game". I'd shake his hand and say, "Hi, I'm mommy. What's your name?" He answered, "Eric". Sooooo cute! This is the first time he has said his name (at least to me anyway. He says it so cute.

Some Days are Like That

Do you ever have one of those days where you just feel like sticking your head in a bucket and hiding out? Ugh! It's the longest Saturday in the history of the world. This morning it seemed like it was going to rain all day long and storm. As such, the boys and I decided to stay inside and strip wallpaper and watch t.v. Unfortunately, it hasn't rained at all really and now I'm feeling guilty about not doing anything fun. It's almost 3 p.m. and nothing much was accomplished. The kids are napping but won't be for much longer. I need some suggestions for something fun to do with the rest of our day. Luckily, Jay only works until 6:30 tonight so I'll have about three hours more on my own with them. Maybe a trip to the park would be good. It'll be too late to go to the gym because Kids Stuff closes at 4:00 p.m. Should have went this a.m. Blah! It's time to get out of the house!!!!!

Giant Shiny Bubble Fun

Jonathan received a bubble machine for his 5th birthday. It was finally nice enough outside to break open the box and play with the bubbles. What a blast! The machine works great and entertained the boys for quite awhile. I have a feeling we may be buying tons of bubble solution this summer not to mention tons of AA batteries.

Super Monday

All four of us were home yesterday so we set about cleaning out the garage once and for all. Jay and Jonathan took two loads of junk to the dump and then two loads of yard waste to the compost site. Yeah! Things are sooooo clean now. It feels great to have that project done.

The day was gorgeous, low 70's and sunny. Jonathan and Eric played for hours in the sand box although now the whole yard appears to be a sandbox. At one point Jonathan exclaimed, "Mom, there's no more sand in the sand box!" Uh oh. We also hung up the hammock and relaxed. We ate dinner outside on the deck. And before we knew it, it was bath time and then bed time. It was a great day!

Easter Fun

For some Easter fun, the boys and I colored three dozen eggs. Unfortunately, none of us like hard boiled eggs. We also made rabbit sugar cookies. After lunch at Grandma and Grandpa Matthews', the kids had an egg hunt. Jonathan had his own half of the yard, and Anna and Eric shared the other half of the hunt. Jonathan loved his hunt so much that Jay rehid all his eggs again for him. I think Jonathan may have hunted eggs for days and days. Eric and Anna had a ball too. Later, after naps, the kids attacked the pinatas that were left-over from Jonathan's birthday party. All three kids had a ball whacking the tough little butterflies. Even Zach came outside to "watch" the festivities.

Tastes Like What?

Jonathan went back to preschool today after his week off for "spring break". He has a new teacher and today was her first day in class. Jonathan was sad and didn't want me to leave so I stuck around for a while to watch. Soon after the kids were sitting in their circle, Jonathan's friend, Frederick, was attempting to get the new teacher's attention. When she acknowledged him, he said his tooth fell out. There was blood on his mouth and on his fingers and sweatshirt. The assistant teacher, took Freddie to the restroom to clean up and when he came back and joined the circle he tried to say something to Jonathan. "Jonathan, Jonathan, blood tastes like ketchup!" It was VERY funny. Not sure if Jonathan heard him or not, but it gave me something to laugh about all day. I need to make sure I share that with Freddie's mom when I call her this evening.

It seems like Jonathan's school day was a good one. I think he'll like his new teacher. Since there is only about two months of classes left, it's a shame they have to get used to someone new. But maybe this will make kindergarten transition in the fall that much easier.
